Reformation Celebration
November 1, 2009
Tomorrow is the Milwaukee Area Reformation Festival at Christ Lutheran Church in Pewaukee, and I’m really looking forward to it. I was asked to be the music director for the service and wound up having to set the liturgy, pick hymns and even determine the scripture readings. It was more than I thought I would be doing, but I’m glad I was able to do it. I’ll be directing the festival choir during the service and right now I know of about 14 people that will be singing in this choir. While I know that there will be a few others that will show up to practice before the service, it is a lot fewer people than I thought we’d have for this choir. Not sure what the reason is but I suspect it has something to do with a certain football game at Lambeau Field tomorrow.
Fortunately for me, my neighbor, who is also singing in the choir, offered his DVR, big screen TV and beer for a post-Reformation service football party. I think if Luther lived in Wisconsin at this time, he would be a Packer Fan. But watching all the games would really cut into his writing time.
